Alexander Dunn
Chairman & Chief Executive
Prior to establishing BDML, Sandy Dunn accumulated a vast experience in the insurance industry having established Eagle Star’s direct operation in 1988/89 and then launching the Touchline direct insurance business in 1993. He was also director of the GAN Group from 1992 to 1998 and established and was Managing Director of Rossborough Insurance Services Limited from 1993 to 1998.
Sandy has also held a number of senior positions on industry bodies such as the CII and ABI, and is a Chartered Insurance Broker. |

Mark Townsend
Chief Operating Officer
BA (Hons) - Business Studies, specialising in Insurance and Finance and nearing completion of MBA. Mark has worked in General Insurance for the past ten years in a variety of underwriting, business development and operations management roles for Norwich Union and HSBC prior to joining BDML as Operations Director in January 2004.

Paul Stacy
Operations Director
BEng (Hons), MPhil (Operational Mathematics).
Paul first joined the insurance industry through management consulting for Accenture (financial service strategy practice), then worked at AXA Asia Pacific practice based in Melbourne, Australia.
Paul joined BDML in May 2004 as Operations Director and is responsible for all activities in all BDML's Operational and Systems departments. In addition, Paul also manages key account relationships and is leading BDML/Capita’s move into the IFA and broker GI market. In 2006 Paul was recognised as Young Achiever of the Year in the Insurance Times awards.

Alan Davies
Insurer Relations Director, ACII Chartered Insurer
Alan had spent 23 years with AA Insurance Services in which time he was General Manager of both the Cheadle Hulme and Newcastle offices with responsibility for 800+ staff.
In 1990 he went on to become General Manager of the RAC Insure operation based in Hitchin for nearly seven years. The RAC account was sold to GRE in April 1996 and Alan joined the board of Guardian Direct for a period of six months to assist in the transfer of business from a broker to a direct writer. Since then he has worked for CGU/CGNU managing the broking operation of Select Direct, the broking arm of CGU.
In 2000 he moved to Abbey National setting up their motor and household panel arrangements and in 2003 joined The Rubicon Corporation again setting up and managing their panel relationships for corporate clients. Alan joined BDML in January 2004. |

David Seel
Managing Director, Thornside
David Seel is Managing Director of Thornside the “behind the brand” pet insurance specialis, which is part of BDML Connect Limited. David is also a Director of BDML Connect Limited.
David has worked in the Insurance Industry for the majority of his working life. Originally a Director of Hogg Robinson ( London ) Limited, followed by a long period as a Director of Swire Fraser Limited, Lloyd’s Insurance Brokers. David formed Thornside in 1999 as a Pet Insurance specialist, which became minority owned by BDML in 2000 and subsequently wholly owned in 2005.
Thornside has within a short period become one of the leading Pet Insurance underwriting agencies in the UK and acts for more than 25 of the major brands
( including HBOS, esure, Argos, PDSA, Littlewoods, Homebase, AA) and now commands a market position of number three behind PetPlan ( Allianz Cornhill ) and Direct Line.

Nick Bedford
Senior Divisional Finance Director
Nick Bedford is Senior Divisional Finance Director of Capita Plc with specific responsibility for Commercial Services division. He came to Capita in 2002 and has worked hard to restructure and strengthen the quality of the finance function, bringing financial, commercial and operational experience to the Group.
A commercially focused senior Finance Director, he has extensive experience of supporting Plc main board directors in a wide range of demanding and fast moving sectors, including IT, service, retail and distribution. Previous companies included Phoenix Plc, RAC Plc, Misys Plc and Unipart where he has held various senior financial positions. |

Kenneth Wallace
Non-Executive Director
Ken joined Norwich Union in Edinburgh in 1965 and was employed by them for 40 years. His career took him to nine different locations in the UK where he has covered a number of functions for Norwich Union.
He had spells in Corporate Office, Marketing and in Sales and Branch management.
He was Norwich Union Group Training Manager from 1985 - 1989 when he joined the Corporate Team with responsibility for Human Resource development.
In 1992 Ken headed up the Business Development Operation for Personal Lines in the UK and in October 1996 this was extended to include all General Insurance. On acquisition of L E Ken assumed responsibility for the whole sales operation as Business Development Director.
Following the merger between Norwich Union and CGU, Ken was appointed Intermediary Business Director with bottom line accountability for Norwich Union’s broker business, based in Head Office, Norwich. He was an Executive Director of Norwich Union Insurance and Chairman of Norwich Union Risk Services and sat on the Global Best Practices Board of Aviva GI.
Ken is qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and was Chairman of the ABI Distribution Committee for five years.
Ken is now a Non Executive Director of Towergate Partnership, Kerry London Insurance, Vantage Insurance Services, BDML, and J & M Insurance ( UK ) PLC.
He is also a Senior Advisor to Capita Commercial Division Board. |
